MAKE CHANGES AT HOME
Embrace Free Play!
- Parents—ask your children about an activity they feel ready to tackle on their own, but that hasn’t been allowed before.
- Children—share with your parents something you feel ready to do, but haven’t yet been allowed. Work together to make a plan to tackle that activity.
- While at home, allow time for free time and self-guided activities for your kids.

BE A CHANGEMAKER IN YOUR COMMUNITY
- Build Alliances
- Connect with others who saw the film and explore how you can support each other to make changes for your kids and community.
- Partner with schools
- Free Play: Talk to your kids’ teacher or school about the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional benefits of extending free play time throughout the school day.
- Mental Health: Brainstorm with school administrators, counselors, parents, and other community members ways to truly center young people’s health and wellness. Consider implementing a well-being survey at your school to help identify issues and prioritize well-being.
- Youth Sports
- Talk to coaches about the rigor of sports teams: Evaluate the tone of your kids’ sports. Are they too competitive and cutthroat? Is it more stressful than fun? Talk to coaches and families about creating less pressure-packed team environments.
- Book Club: Inspire conversations around collective reads with your school or community.
